Description

Large Meissen platter with paintings of lovely bouquets of flowers and curved pink edges on two sides. This platter is from the dot Meissen period, 1763-1774. The paintings of the flowers on the platter are painted beautifully. It has one cancellation mark on the back which means it was probably painted by Hausmalers outside the Meissen factory. Often, painters took the white unpainted Meissen porcelain outside the factory to paint. These painters were known as Hausmalers. Some of these Hausmalers worked at the Meissen factory and others did not. Many of the works of the Hausmalers are worth as much as any of the Meissen pieces made in this period. You can use this platter to serve dinner as your entree, your vegetables and your potatoes could all be presented on this platter. Also, this would be a wonderful platter to serve desserts or tea sandwiches for an afternoon tea. It is 19 3/8 inches long and 11.63 inches deep and 4 inches tall. There is some gold wear on fluted borders consistant with its age. There is a minor roughness on the edge, about 1/16th by 1/16th of an inch, which you can hardly see. In overall good antique condition for a platter which is about 250 years old. Price-$995.00
