The porcelain companies like Copeland used to hire people who spent their whole life perfecting the art of gilding. That was their specialty at the factory. You can see the great talent of the artist that profusely gilded these plates. We have a set of ten of these gorgeous plates to offer you. Their diameter is 9 inches. They are in great condition. They were made exclusively for Gilman Collamore & Co., Fifth Avenue and 30th Street, New York. Gilman Collamore was at this address from 1890 to 1920. Gilman Collamore was a rival of Tiffany and Co. at this time. They often commissioned designs from Copeland Spode in England including some with rich gilding like these fabulous plates.
